Description

Merry X-mask! It's a Christmas-tree ornament in the shape of a mask.

There are four variants, The text is either "MERRY X-MASK! 2020" or "OUR FIRST PANDEMIC 2020." The back can either be with channels for hiding the strings under a photo stuck to the back or solid flat for use without a photo. Can be hung directly from string/yarn for the ties or, if used with a photo, you can loop the strings over the ears and hang it from the top of the photo.

Post-Printing =============

I painted the top of the text with light blue paint, mimicking the white/light blue of surgical masks. The design scales down nicely if you wish, but the text becomes harder to read at much less than about 50mm wide.

At the scale given, the mask is a touch over 60mm wide... so the photo to stick on the back should have the face printed between 60-70mm wide. Before attaching the photo, run a single piece of string/yarn through each of the holes so that the two ends meet in the back. Tie the two ends together, nudge the string in the channels, and use glue or two-sided tape to attach the photo such that the string/yarn on the back is completely hidden. If desired, one could even make the ornament two sided by simply gluing front and back shots of the head together so that the front is partially covered by the mask and the back is just the back of the head. If desired, you can loop the string/yarn around the ears, etc., to make it appear to be holding the mask to the face.

For the solid-backed ones, I'd recommend simply threading string/yarn through the holes and hanging the mask by that. If desired, a two-sided mask-only version could be made by gluing two solid-back ones together -- and you can pair the two different texts that way with everything still linging-up.
