Description

TS-100 soldering iron case. As small as possible. I added the little compartment for the 5 threaded heat inserts. The picture reference for bending the wire(1.25mm).

The original design is from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4307696

I used a technic I saw on reedit to print onto a laser printer overhead folio to transfer the print to the 3D print. You can find more details for this technic: https://www.reddit.com/r/FDM_TonerTransfer/

Slicer settings:

  • concentric bottom layer
  • first layer printed with 90 degrees build plate - I'm here not 100% sure if you used the correct temperature. Because the water under the foil starts to boil on small prints, that's okay, but the bigger ones start to warp a little bit. The foil sticks to the print, but the foil starts to lift with the print.

Steps to follow for the toner transfer:

  1. You need a laser printer
  2. Also, you need overhead foil for a laser printer because they can are more heat-resistant
  3. Print your design reversed onto the foil
  4. print the first outline (skirt and first line of the wall)
  5. take the foil and align it to the outline and fix one side with tape to the build plate
  6. remove the outline
  7. Put a tiny bit of water under the foil. And push it with a paper towel to the sides. (Be careful with your 3D printer doesn't like water) So you get the foil perfectly onto the build plate
  8. Now fix the other sides with tape and resume the print
  9. Let the build plate cool down and then slowly remove the print
