Description

Simple Skadis holder for six small hookup wire spools, like the ones included in Adafruit's basic Hook-up Wire Spool Set.

This model requires M2.5 heat-set inserts, M2.5 screws, and printed hooks for mounting and an additional 4x M2.5 heat-set inserts and M2.5 screws for securing the top plate.

Required Parts

  • Printed hooks
    • See linked project for more details
  • M2.5 heat-set inserts (x2 or x4 for mounting, x4 for assembly)
  • M2.5 8mm screws (x2 or x4 for mounting)
  • M2.5 6mm screws (x4 for assembly)
    • McMaster Carr 92000A104 (6mm, $4.69, 100 pcs)

Assembly Notes

Once printed, just cut the “spool rod” (usually a length of plastic tubing) to length to fit snugly into the printed box then drop it in with the spools on it. Pretty simple! :)

The top plate is optional but helps to keep the spools in place while dispensing wire. I found that printing and assembling it was worth the time but I had a bunch of extra M2.5 screws on hand, so YMMV. :)

Printing Notes

For printing any heat-set insert project on a FFF/FDM printer its a good idea to use 4+ perimeters to make sure that there's enough surface for the inserts to bite into.

My test and final prints were done on a stock Prusa MINI+ with Prusament PETG. PLA and other materials should work fine though.
