Kinetic Sculpture

Wall mounted - hand driven - spring loaded - kinetic sculpture. 

The piece is 100% 3D printed. You won't need any bearings, bolts or nuts.

I've used PETG to print the thing, but I guess nearly any material will do. I printed it with a 0.3 mm layer height. Not much finesse needed here. It took me just about 24 hours printing, but I bet all those mad Benchy scientists will complete it in twenty seven minutes, give or take. 

Quantities: you'll need to print 24 arms and one of each of the rest of the parts

Tolerances work just right for my settings and my printer, it rotates just as it's supposed to do, and the parts that are meant to stick together do so well that I do not even use glue in the assembly, just a little persuasion. Nonetheless, I've included the step file of the assembly so you can fine tune the measures if you need to. 

Assembly is a no brainer, just make sure that all the arms get to the end of their placement in the rotor hubs. Feel free to use some glue to lock them in place if you have to (I did not). 

To make it work, attach to a wall through the base with some double sided tape (better if you first use masking tape on the wall to protect it, just saying). Hold the back rotor with a hand and spin the front one clockwise up to six turns. then, let go. Now enjoy maybe seven seconds of visual pleasure.
