Stackable Ammo Box Parametric

September 10, 2023
Description
I buy cheap reloads in bulk, which come loosely packaged. To transport my ammo I needed some kind of box, which is why I decided to design one.
I designed this fully parametric in Fusion 360, which allows any caliber to be inputted. I have already added a vast array of calibers by now.
If you don't have Fusion 360, just drop me a comment with your parameters and I might add your requested stls.
To build this, you need to print one lid, the desired amount of boxes (the stls are all 5 x 10 rounds), 4 latch cams and 4 latch arms per box. Also you need M3x25 screws and nuts (I used and recommend self locking).
New print in place latch design!
The new latch design can be printed in one piece and makes opening and closing much easier. It replaces both the latch cam and the latch arm and latches directly onto the top screw. The number of screws you will need is the same as is the distance of the latch mechanism. So you can always retrofit already printed boxes with the new latch. In Prusa Slicer be careful if “detect bridging perimeters” produces unwanted results and fuses the mechanism. I had to turn it off to get it to print properly.
The original latch system was inspired by the x82nets Waterproof Box (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4838803)
For .22LR:
The standard latch arm will not have enough clearance. If you are planning to print the .22LR box you should use the trimmed arm by Benjamin King: https://www.printables.com/model/420483-22lr-ammo-box-latch-trimmed. Many thanks to him for pointing that out and providing a fix. The new print in place latch should be compatible with .22LR, as it is shorter. I have not physically tested that though, so feedback would be appreciated.
