Description

This is an accessory for your Baratza Encore. It fits snugly into the grind bucket area and allows you to lean the portafilter and grind directly onto it. It also has a little tray that catches (most) of the grinds that overflow, so that you can reuse them or discard them without making  a mess.

The holder is designed for the 58mm portafilter of the Gaggia Classic; it will accommodate most portafilters of that size, though I haven't tested it. Any portafilter with a wing diameter of less than 80mm and more that 71mm, and a body diameter of less that 70mm, should fit without issues.

Print all parts in the orientation of the STLs. Use supports for the portafilter lips on the holder. I've included a 3mf file with the painted supports needed. No combination of enforcers or blockers I tried gets rid of the two tiny columns (see pic). If anyone can tell me the settings I need to change, I'd be glad to fix.

The tray has a small indentation on the bottom; this also needs supports or manual touch-up after printing for it to sit flush on the bottom of the grinder.

The struts are glued onto the holder with cianoacrilate glue or similar, using a few small bits of 1.75mm filament in the holes (see pic) to align it perfectly and make the union stronger. The fit of the holder inside the grinder is designed to be tight! This is to ensure that it doesn't move around with the vibrations. Getting it in is moderately hard, but a gentle pull on the top of the grinder to flex the plastic slightly helps get it into place. Once it's in place, it fits seamlessly with the plastic casing and flows perfectly!

The same applies for the tray; the fit is tight, so that it doesn't come out on it's own, and also to account for the slight wear on the plastic as it's used and conforms. Initially, the tray requires it to be inserted at a slight top angle until it's under the grip of the ledges on the struts.

Hope the model is useful for you all!
