Description

When you fit a high mudguard / fender on the Honda MSX-125 Grom, you expose the lower fork legs by removing the original mudguard which doubles as a protector.

You can use the Honda Monkey 125 fork protectors but they are quite expensive for what they are, so my solution was to create a 3D printable and slimmer version. These are modelled to fit in the original mudguard location and are designed to protect the whole length of the exposed lower fork leg.

I printed them in PETG and I added enough perimeters to make the top part solid (3 or 4 perimeters should do). I printed them in an upright position to keep the ugliest parts down where it's hardest to see. This uses quite a bit of support, but I think it's worth it.

Please note the model is only for the right hand side (throttle) fork leg, to get the other side you need to mirror the existing model in your slicer software.

I included the gcode from my last print in PETG 0.15mm layer height for my Prusa i3 Mk3. This print file includes both left and right fork protector.

For finishing, I drill out the holes with a 6mm drill bit and then finish the rest with a sharp knife and files.

I have a video on YouTube that describes the installation of a CR50 mudguard and the 3D printed fork protectors.

Happy printing!
