Description

In our county beekeepers usually use some kind of fumigation to fight against varroa destructor. It is a little bit stressful (for the bees and the keeper:) ) to open the hive and put some smoking fumigation stripe there.

So I've created prototype of simple blower that uses stainless pipe, some leftover 5015 fan, 9v battery and switch. I was inspired by the by the available barbecue blowers, but my solution is made of “scraps”

Print instructions

I've printed it in PETG, without supports but maybe some better temperature resistant materials will be suitable. The result is in the photo (the quality of the print is low because it was prototype). If you have more hives the pipe will get hot, so keep that in mind.

Parts description

Tube holder have square recess where you can put a piece of metal mesh to prevent any ashes from getting into hive (I've used Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Screen 20 Mesh, Hole 0.9mm)

Stainless tube has diameter 44.5 but it is sealed in using some construction transparent glue, so maybe some smaller diameters might fit

Blower fan used is standard 5015*24v  The 9volt battery is suitable for driving it at lower speeds.

Switch is mini black SPDT switch with size approx. 20*5.5*14mm.

Everything is held together with M3x30mm screws and nuts

Assembly instructions

The parts of the blower fits together and can be screwed around the blower fan without any other hardware (except the screws). The fan can be powered externally, without battery attached directly to it (Back_no_battery.3mf has groove for the cable)

If you want to use switch there is groove for routing cables to it and hole to pass them to the battery.

I've also added piece of perofrated aluminium as a “bed” for burning fumigation strip. It helps to keep heat from the pipe walls.
