Description

This is my dream filament clip, designed to prevent the end of the filament getting tangled in the spool, being easy to remove and add, and it doesn't pop off when you put the spool away because the design sits inside the spool itself.

To insert the filament just slightly pinch the two sides together so the holes line up, and then feed it through, then place it inside the spool where it should grip tight enough to not move around.

I've included widths from 50mm to 75mm in 1mm increments, which should fit most filament spools, and the Fusion 360 (and step files if they are useful to anyone) file so you can create your own custom widths if you want.

Always go slightly bigger than you need to, so if you measure the inner width of your spool as 54.3mm, then try the 55mm clip.

I will add more spool widths as I encounter them, and probably if people request them.

The inner spool width variable should be all you need to set in Fusion, then you can export as an STL file, the rest should automatically just adjust to fit this. I've added an image showing the measurement to make for the inner spool width.

I've also added my PrusaSlicer support settings, via images. These are based on the Prusa Mini.

Print instructions

Print in PLA, with supports, curving away from the bed, 0.2mm layer height, and 100% infill! Other filament types and settings might work, let me know? :)
