Description

This is completely inspired by uCkeN's modular hexagon plant trellis, but designed from scratch with some changes to the feet/connectors:

  • Available in single, double, and triple corner varieties.
  • Includes varieties that have a hole intended for a drywall screw. You can use the “screw plug” to cover the hole (just make sure it's loose enough that you can use a knife to pry it out later if you ever need to get it off of the wall).
  • The back (wall side) of all connectors includes a hole and enough room inside to hang on small nails (should you prefer this over using a drywall screw).
  • Connectors use a hexagon shape so angles and spacing are preserved when connecting together. This allows “end to end” connections with only 2 connectors and creates a much more rigid structure.

The hexes themselves are available in multiple “foot” configurations so you can configure them with feet on all sides, or only feet on the sides actually being used to connect the hexes together.

There is also a small hook you can use to hold up a plant, or just hang things if you are using these as art.

The friction fit is pretty good from my printer but depending on how large of an installation you are making, I recommend you use superglue to create rigid sections and then use the friction connections only where necessary (anywhere near a drywall screw).

The model itself is parametric. If you have trouble with friction fit and print tolerances, you can create a free Onshape account and copy it to modify to fit your specific needs and printer tolerances. View source model at Onshape.
