Description

BBQ tool holders for your pellet smoker or BBQ grill that require no supports and can be printed in PLA or PETG. For PETG, you need to have your printer dialed in to bridge a few gaps so no supports are needed. The purple tool holder was printed with PLA and the red was printed in PETG. Both are possible without support and the PETG came out very nice. Print standing up as downloaded.

Do not attach the completed hook to any hot surfaces of your grill. PLA or PETG will melt. Attach to side tables or the pellet hopper.

For PLA:

Temp 205C Tool & 60C Bed

.20 layer height

3 walls

3 top

3 bottom

15% infill (Gyrod)

No Supports

No Raft

I used a Skirt

For PETG:

Temp 240C Tool & 80C Bed

.20 layer height

3 walls

5 top

3 bottom

15% infill (Gyrod)

No Supports

No Raft

I used a Skirt

Don't go too crazy with additional walls, top bottom layers, or infill… you want a light yet strong hook.

This will require 2 Neodymium magnets stacked together. CAREFULLY stack them together as the magnets are fragile and very strong. Through trial and error, one magnet was not enough.

Here is what I used, but any strong 30mm x 3mm (times 2) magnets should work.

There is some room for the magnets to easily be removed for cleaning and/or replacement of the hook. You could use a bit of glue on the front face of the magnetic for a more permanent fix. Check the polarity of the magnet prior to using glue.

Notes:

PLA bridges nice. PETG is a bit more difficult for some people. Purple is PLA and Red is PETG in the photo. Both are nice and functional.

Post-Printing =============

Insert 2 30mmx3mm (for a total of 30mmx6mm) strong magnets.

You can glue these in. if so, glue on the face facing the front of the hook (logo side) to give the magnet the strongest adhesion to the metal surface of the grill.

if your printer does not bridge well, you can clean up the overhang where the magnet is inserted with fine grit sandpaper.
