Description
The original setup is quite loud as the airflow from the fan is max disturbed by the case itself. There are people that just cut the metal and make a big hole...that should work to but I like to make changes reversible.
I decided to put in a Noctua A6 60x25 12V which is to high (25mm vs. 15mm original) and would not fit the original housing. Additionally it needs a stepdown module as the powersupply brings 24V.
I ended up drawing a new lid for the power supply with 6mm more hight, opened up the fan hole completely.
Therefore the whole unit needed to move 9mm inside the bottom housing why I made the distance part. Due to this there are 4 M4x18/M4x20 screws needed.
The lit itself fits snuggly with the original screws.
I know that electrically it is not recommended to open the metal enclosure by a plastic lid/part.
So every change is on your OWN RISK!
ALSO THERE IS A BIG DANGER REGARDING THE CAPACITORS THAT CAN HOLD THE VOLTAGE FOR A LONGER TIME! SO BE CAREFUL AND ONLY PUT YOUR HAND ON IT IF ITS UNPLUGGED.
I printed with PETG but I guess PLA should be fine too.
No supports needed.
