I am currently switching from Palmolive shaving sticks (which seem to be becoming harder to get) to Arko shaving sticks. Most users of Arko shaving soap seem to prefer to press the soap into a shaving bowl, but my preference is to wet my face with hot water, rub the shaving stick directly over the area to be shaved, then lather up by using a shaving brush directly on my face before shaving. The Palmolive shaving sticks have a little plastic base which allows you to do this without having to try and hold a wet, soapy object, likely squishing it in the process. Shockingly, the Arko shaving sticks lack this feature.

Hence this model. It features:

  • A gently-tapered socket for the shaving stick
  • Four vanes to cut into the stick and securely hold it in place
  • A wide ‘mouth’ to make it easy to press new sticks in
  • A hole in the base which allows air/water out as the stick is being pressed in
  • A bevelled edge on the base for comfort

Ridiculously overblown for what it is. Instructions for use: peel wrapper off Arko stick, insert into holder.

The STL file provided is sized for 75g Arko shaving sticks, but sticks of other dimensions can easily be accommodated by adjusting the parameters in the supplied OpenSCAD file. Have a good shave!

PS: 16mm worth of your shaving stick is inaccessible, lost inside the holder. When you get to the bottom of the stick, push it out using the hole in the base, and put the new stick in. Get some hot water onto your shaving brush, and very lightly lather the top of the new stick and the base of the old. Press them together, rub a little, and line them up carefully. Leave to dry - by tomorrow the joint will be secure.
