Description

Open your heart for your special one with this themed aperture iris box lid. You will also need to print the Aperture Iris Box design.

This was originally posted on MyMiniFactory in 2019, and I am now moving it here as well.

There are two versions of the lid, single material and multimaterial.

For the original single material design i.e. aib8-door-val-(1-8), you simply need to print one of each door and assemble as normal. For a multicolour print simply do a material change at the appropriate height.

Multimaterial parts

I have also split up the design for people with multimaterial printers (the parts with MM in the file names), each of the eight doors is split into separate parts, namely: Base, Border and Top. Two doors also have extra parts for the arrow section.

Make sure your slicer does not automatically centre parts on the printbed and load the separate parts for one door e.g. Base, Border, Top1 and Top1 arrow. The parts should load in the slicer assembled correctly.

You can now move the group of parts together to a different part of the printbed, then repeat for all the doors.

Then select which materials you want to print the separate parts if you have a multi-material printer.

The printed multicolour example used the MM files but on a single material printer by doing a material swap at the appropriate height. The arrow parts were printed separately and pressed into place.
