KTM Folding License Plate and Turn Signal Bracket - '11-'15

Overview

Do you enjoy the freedom and fury of having a street-legal dirt bike but fear ripping (or someone seeing) your license plate? Well fear no more because now it can be tucked away in the flick of a wrist! Whether you're hitting the forbidden single track [walking trails] or cracking dank nooners through downtown, this folding plate bracket is functional and affordable to make.

This license plate bracket is designed for 2011-2015 (see below) KTM enduro and supermoto motorcycles but may fit many other bikes. The plate is designed to be folded away when transitioning from the road to trails, as to minimize damage off-road. The main assembly is 3D printed; however, turn signals, a running light and mounting hardware will be needed. Everything was designed to be cost effective and readily available. A self closing cabinet hinge is used to keep the plate rigid in either its displayed or tucked form.

Printing Notes

Print Fender Elim V4 in an orientation best suited to your printer's build volume. PLA is perfectly suitable for this part. Parameters:

• Layer Height: .2mm
• Infill: 50%, Triangles
• Wall Count: 4
• Support: Generate

Use whatever material settings work proper for you and use discretion when necessary. I am able to print without support but your mileage may vary. Remember to clean up any burrs leftover by the support.

This will come equipped with bullet connectors. They will likely plug right into your current wiring harness but some modification may be necessary.

Hardware

To mount the bracket to your bike you will need the following:

• M6x30 Bolt
• M6 Nylon Nut (or M6 nut with thread lock)
• 3/8in Nylon Spacer
• Self Closing Cabinet Hinge

Assembly

1. Print the main part
2. Sand any rough edges in internal holes
3. Insert tail light and affix with included nuts
4. Insert turn signals and affix with included nuts
5. Attach self closing hinge and affix with included screws (tighten slowly and carefully, these screws can strip the plastic holes)
6. Hold assembled bracket up to fender and mark the mounting hole with a marker
7. Drill ~6mm marking hole
8. Place 6mm bolt through the hole from the top
9. Slide nylon spacer onto the bolt from the bottom, followed by the bracket
10. Affix nut to bolt, cinching the assembly together and tighten properly
11. Attach you plate backer to the hinge

Now you're ready to stomp some trails or wheelie some sidewalks without fear of your plate!
