Ram_1500_Truck phone Mount

Honestly I can't believe this came out to be very functional, after several iterations of trial and error. I am able to use this to mount my cell phone in my Ram 1500 and it looks nice, out of the way and feels built into the truck .  The setup may seem a bit cheesy but I promise it works great

I did this in tinkercad so it isn't the most creative design but it works with your standard ball mount systems. I purchased a cheap $3 phone mount from wolly world, just to see if it would work, used just the top part from the mount i bought and attached it to the my 3d printed part. You can use anything that has the ball attachment or create your own attachment and share with us. My goal is to purchase a wireless type mount using MagSafe but I do not have the coolest iPhone yet to enjoy those features. 

For installation you will have to unscrew the two screws sitting under the tray on top of the dash. The entire untit surrounding the touch screen can be pulled out very easily, just be careful not to break any clips, I have taken mine in and out several times during my testing. You just need a small space to slide this mount in place as you can see in the pictures. There is a tab you will fill that the bottom of the print sits onto to keep it from sliding down.   I used a small piece of foam on the inner top part of the printed mount to protect the outside of the dash coming into contact with the plastic to prevent any scratches to that area of the dash. (When I get some time I will upload more photos for how this was installed)

As shown in the photos, I printed both the driver side and passenger side (just mirror the print for passenger side) and ran a phone charger to the phone mount on the driver side. These were just test prints that I have been using just to validate that it even worked. I plan on adding more images of the install and generic piece of foam I used to install these.  I am sure these can be improved upon and can't wait to see what ideas come out of the community from this upload. I hope we see remixes and attachments created for this.
