Description

I designed this thing to secure 2.5" flexible vacuum tubing on the z-axis of my MPCNC Primo (1" ID clamp stretches to fit all versions of Primo). The design uses a slide on dovetail attachment, to give a robust/keyed in mount that can be removed/replaced very quickly. The finger part that holds the vac tubing is sized for 2.6" OD vacuum tubing.

To assemble you need:

1@ printed z-clamp

1@ printed vac tube clamp

1@ M3x16 bolt

1@ M3 locknut

1@ small ziptie

The clamp part is thin enough to stretch around the tubing; so disassembly of your z-gantry is not needed. The z-clamp part clamps around on the top of the left z tube, with the dovetail pointing upwards. Rotate the clamp to fine tune the angle, then tighten the clamp securely. Fit your vacuum tube to your router, slide the vac clamp part over it, and secure the tips with a ziptie. Slide the dovetails together... and enjoy!

The 'lightening holes' on the finger part may also be useful for lashing smaller vacuum tubes if you have them. I added 0.25mm clearance on the dovetail fitting for easier R&R for when the tubing is tied to the finger part. You can glue the dovetail if you want a more permanent mount.

I printed with Hatchbox PLA, 45% infil 4-walls 8tops/bottoms with an 0.4mm nozzle. No supports needed. Note the z clamp part is overall fairly robust regardless of print settings, but the dovetail on the vacuum clamp part relies on wall thickness to get it's strength.
