Description
While these hoops may not quite be what you are looking for to push your bowden printer to record print times, they'll surely help it look like it is going 200mph.
These spool adapters are easy to print and require no supports. Each rim packs in lots of detail for the 2.8m of 1.75mm filament they cost. The STL files are sized for 54mm ID spools (like Hatchbox etc), with an M8 threaded rod for an axle. There are 2 versions, a standard and an extended hub that allows stacking of horizontal spools. (see updates for additional sizes)
Since it's done in Freecad I can make adjustments without massive efforts (ie adding different sizes, ball bearing support, functional for r/c car versions, etc). So don't be shy if you would like to see a variant on this design.
Cheers!
Update 081318:
Added 57mm stl's to fit 3D Solutech and similar spools.
Update 081318:
Added 86mm stl's to fit my Ninjaflex mini spools.

Notes:
I printed mine at 0.1mm layer thickness and they look OK. I'm still working on getting good prints at finer resolutions, but if your printer is up to it then go as thin as possible. The STL files are high res, so you'll see the difference.
I used ABS because they will end up horizontally in a 70C dehumidifier from time to time. Otherwise any filament should work.License:
