Description
This item is a replacement for the bottom of a Geekworm Heavy Duty Aluminum case for RPi4 which mounts to the back on a Prusa MK3/S frame above the electronic box.
The Geekworm Case (Amazon US) is a generic, inexpensive aluminum case for the RPi4, meant for passive cooling, with the top of the case contacting 4 chips on the RPi4 board and serving as a big heatsink.
This project replaces the bottom of the case with a near-identical design, adding a mount for the MK3/S frame, combining the thermal performance of the passive cooling aluminum top with the matching integrated mount at the bottom.
Two screws are required to mount the case to the frame:
Original version: The total thread depth with frame is 13.2mm, so a M3x12 is best. M3x10 will work in a pinch and M3x14 will stick out a bit but will clear all moving parts.
Lowered version: The total thread depth with frame is 9.2mm, so a M3x8 is best. M3x6 will work in a pinch and M3x10 will stick out a bit but will clear all moving parts.
April 2021 Update: Added a version sitting lower on the frame to clear the excellent LED Light Bar Prusa i3 MK2/MK3. The mount uses different screw holes and looks a bit different. The rest is identical.
The bottom get can get a bit hot so I recommend printing it in PETG or higher temperature material.
The bottom is designed to print without support at 0.2mm layer height. It should work with other settings.
