Description
I was looking for a simple gift card box and nothing met my needs entirely so I designed my own. The closest thing I could find was “Cute gift-card-sized gift box” by mkoistinen, which is pretty nice, however I did not like how the fillets on the top and bottom of the box printed. I also did not like the tolerances on the rest of the parts. Props to mkoistinen on the basic dimensions, and like they said, “Not a new idea, but this is my take.” On my model, I used chamfers on the top and bottom of the box, which print better, and I made the bow components fit snugly to the outside of the box. No supports necessary. No raft or brim needed when printed properly on a well-prepared print bed. It fits a gift card diagonally but obviously can hold whatever you'd like to put in it.
Try different infill patterns to add some interest to the top and bottom of the box! I have included .gcode files for Concentric, Octagram Spiral and Hilbert Curve. These look especially nice with metallic filaments. In my pictures, I used Prusament Mystic Green and Viva La Bronze PLA. If you are using PrusaSlicer, you can adjust this in: Print Settings > Infill > Bottom Fill Pattern.
I designed this for the bow to fit very snugly over the box and lid. This prints and fits really well on my printer, however you may need to adjust scale on either the box & lid or bow components by +/- 1% or so if you find the parts to fit too tightly.
I natively design in Imperial units so deal with it in your slicer accordingly.
I printed mine with a .4mm nozzle with .5mm extrusion width, which produced a nice extrusion path on these components.
