Update: This concept needs work 7/20/2024

Long story short when made of PETG the skids ended up snapping off after a few times of using the snow blower. I don't think they ever really got worn down. I am going to leave this up as  maybe a starting point for others, but Honestly I can't recommend them as they are.

These are skid shoes or glides for the front of an EGO SNT2110 snow blower.  The snow blower does not have factory installed skid shoes. I found that I had started to wear away the steel on the front steel edges of the snow blower and I had cracked/chipped the plastic scrapper blade on the gaps in the sidewalk. So I got a new scrapper blade for the snow blower, but wanted a way to protect it and have it last longer. So with these skid shoes I could have them wear away first, rather than the scrapper blade.

This “mod” does require drilling two holes on each side of the metal EGO snowblower front shroud, for two bolts on either side. The slots should allow some the skid shoes to be adjusted as they wear away. The slots are sized for ¼ bolts, but M5 blots should work as well but may need washers to stop them from sliding. I would recommend using a metal center punch to mark where to drill the holes on the sheet metal. It is best to drill the holes so that they are at the bottom of the slots on the skids, that way you will have the most adjustment space. The skids are mounted on the outsides of the steel housing.Ideally these should be printed with a lot of perimeters. With the .3mf I have set it up with modifiers so the bottom of the skid is almost solid with extra perimeters. If you can print with it Nylon would probably be best as it is a very “slick” plastic which should reduce wear.  My set are currently printed with PETG and they seem to be working so far. I will update this after the season with how well they lasted.

Also to keep your scrapper blade on you snow blower “safe” its best to have the skids mounted so that there is  very small gap between the ground and the scrapper.

Additional hardware need/recommended:

(4x) ¼"bolts ½" to ¾"long, (4x) ¼"  washers, (4x) ¼" locknuts

OR

(4x) M5x15mm bolts, (4x) M5 washers,(4x)M5 locknuts

Version Update

1.1  Adjusted location of mounting slots so there is more clearance on the left side of the snow blower due to the belts and pully cover
