SPEEDY STORAGE BOX - PARAMETRIC

December 23, 2022
Description
I have been experimenting with containers that are fast to print, yet a little more robust than the obvious vase mode. This is my current favourite, which has proven reasonably durable for uses such as that shown, sorting and storing light weight objects which don't need to be moved too often - in this case spare tapes for a labelmaker.
As long as you're not using yours for storing gearbox parts or heavy hardware items it should be fine. It works really well with a smaller height dimension as a container for spare lens hoods and SD cards on my desk.
The box has a single perimeter wall thickness (0.40mm for a nozzle of the same size) with a multi perimeter “ring beam” at the top to help preserve it's shape. I've found that adding the corner fillets rather than leaving a straight right angled corner also contributes to its durability.
To customise the sizes you can fiddle in Prusa Slicer, or you can log into your free Onshape account and connect at the link on the PDF Download File - “PARAMETRIC BOX SOURCE FILE”.
