Description

3 identical monky cylinders that slide onto a large cylinder that diffuses light from a wound up neopixel/LED strip.

If you don't know what this is it's from btd6.

IMPORTANT: You will have to find a way to light this thing yourself. I barely got this working by connecting a neopixel strip to a raspberry pi and calling it a day. Not very convenient though.

Printing

Print 3 totem sections. One totem section consists of:

  • Totem Section with L/R Ears
  • Face and L/R Ear Inserts

The Totem Section and the Face both NEED supports, but if you have SI then I have included a simplified version that counts as one whole section (Totem Section Simplified)

For colors you just need 2 close shades of Blue and Purple, each.

For the Base, you will need:

  • Base Platform with or without the logo
  • Base Outer Column
  • Base Inner Column
  • Base LED Suspender - will need around 8-12 just to keep the led strip from falling on itself
  • Totem Cap (! Use the adjusted version if you are adding the additional diffuser)
  • OPTIONAL: Base additional diffuser (If you want to obscure the neopixels a little more)

FYI I used Translucent PLA for the Base columns and cap (got it on the internet)

Lighting

I basically just weaved the led strip through the base, keeping in mind to wind with LEDs facing outwards, spiraling upward clockwise if looking down on the XY plane.

Stick the suspenders wherever you think you need them.

Slide the Outer Column over the whole mess, making sure to keep track of the notch that fits in only one pllace in the Base Platform.

Adding the Totem Cap last

It may be easiest to get one of those preprogrammed led strips from the store and just weaving it through this than trying to program a strip yourself . . .

eh I'm not really that proud of this model. BUT I will redo this when I have:

  1. The correct filament colors
  2. 20+ hours to redo the whole THING
  3. Working knowledge of how to make a desk lamp
