Digital Caliper Depth Base for Mitutoyo 6-inch Caliper (Parametric)

A no-support needed 3D print for a Mitutoyo 6-inch AOS (500-196-30) Caliper Depth Gauge Base / Bridge.

Printing

• Printed with Silver Prusament PLA on MKS+. 
• Print with the widest flat part down to get the most accurate measurements, it will need no supports.
• I use a variable layer height adding tighter layers around the screw holes to counter layer sag (see 3MF in Prusaslicer).
• Use adhesive on the bed to prevent warping

Screws

This is designed to fit M4 x .7 screws to capture the caliper beam. There are holes on the right and left, I recommend using two screws. Something like 8mm would be an ideal length of the screw.

You can often tap the threads with the screw itself but I used an actual tap because I have one.

Why Use this?

A caliper depth bridge is an adapter that is used for measuring the depth of holes, slots, and other recessed features on a workpiece. It is typically used in conjunction with a caliper, which is a precision measuring instrument that is used to measure the distance between two opposite sides of an object.

The depth bridge is mounted on the caliper's beam and has a plunger that can be extended or retracted to make depth measurements. It is an essential tool for anyone working in manufacturing, engineering, or other fields that require precise measurements.

I wouldn't recommend this over a properly made depth base (link below) if you need proper measurements. Ideal for hobbyists, however.
