FuzNuz Horse Ergonomic Brushes

Version 2.0 is out. This piece is made by taking a grooming plate and gluing it to the new ergonomic handle. Alternatively if you do not have glue you can melt it together using the printer hot end. This version features improved grooming spikes and a much more ergonomic handle. The original will still be available for a single piece construction, but it has some problems with being difficult to clean and being uncomfortable to hold.

A big thanks to the folks over at 3DF Zephyr for really helping this project come along. I was able to use their software for completely free to make the ergonomic grip out of clay to precisely fit my hand, and then take 36 photographs of the model and make the final ergonomic grip pattern, you may wish to make some additional custom grips for FuzNuz products and other 3D printing projects using their photogrammetry software: https://www.3dflow.net/3df-zephyr-free/

I decided to nickname it the FuzNuz after getting tired of the long explanation of what it is. Apparently after searching around, this name was not taken. I will be using it to generically describe the rest of my horse equipment designs just to have a bit of nickname for all of my work in this field.

How I Designed This

Free Design Programs

I made this using a free engineering software called SolveSpace, and then Meshmixer to add the cone tops. I'm pretty new to SolveSpace but it managed okay on this particular project so it might be worth your time to check it out if you don't have access to fancier stuff like Solidworks.

Version 2.0 was done using 3DF Zephyr Free for the handle, and Onshape for the spike design. Which is a spline involving two end points and setting the tangents at the ends to be vertical and horizontal.
