Thanks to fixumdude for the original model, which is awesome.
My printer doesn't like the “pause at height” so much (long story there). So I split the model into top and bottom halves.
Process (requires BLTouch or similar)
- load Ginger TIE -BOT into Cura (or whatever slicer you like). Line it up so the a wing is in the center where the BLTouch will hit. This is so the layer will start there. Slice how you like it. I like using Brim
- Load Ginger TIE - TOP into your slicer and line it up with the bottom half. Delete the bottom half now so only the Top remains. Slice it now with NO bed adhesion (no brim or skirt).
- Now print the Ginger TIE - Bot in your color of choice.
- IMPORTANT. When the bottom half is done, but before the bed cools start heating up your printer bed so the bottom won't slide off.
- Swap your filament color.
- Print the Ginger TIE - TOP now. The BLTouch should hit the wing and then think that's where it “0” is and begin printing at that level.
I know this sounds like a lot, but it's really a pretty easy way to get multi-color without having to do pauses.
Enjoy!
