The National Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II or (mole del) Vittoriano, called for synecdoche Altare della Patria, is an Italian national monument located in Rome, in Piazza Venezia, on the northern slope of the Campidoglio hill, the work of the architect Giuseppe Sacconi. It is located in the center of ancient Rome and connected to the modern one thanks to roads that radiate out from Piazza Venezia.
