Skadis Magnetic Holder (Embedded)

Skadis holder ideal for magnetic items that are difficult to hold in regular holders/mounts like diamond files due to their size. The magnets are to be embedded mid-print so no glue is required at all. There are indents on the front of the model to indicate the centreline of the magnets for easier alignment.

There are 2 different kind of holders, one with a single row of magnets, and one with a double row of magnets for heavier items. Both kinds have 5 variants: 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 magnets wide. It is designed for a disc magnet with the size of 8x3mm which are widely available on AliExpress or other websites.

I have designed this model to be fully parametric, so in case you want this model, but for a different size magnet or wider than 8 magnets, let me know in the comments and I will add it.

How to print

I designed these models to be printed at a 0.3mm layer height, but a lower layer height should also be fine. I printed them in PETG but any material should be fine. Slice as follows:

1. Put the models flat on their face like in the screenshot
2. Make sure the overhangs of the hooks are supported
3. Either use 100% infill, add a modifier the make the hooks solid, or add more perimeters so the hooks end up solid so they won't break easily
4. Add a pause at the correct layer height (layer 14/4.10mm in PrusaSlicer 2.5 with 0.2mm first layer and 0.3mm other layers)
5. Slice and load into printer

During printing, simply add the magnets into the model when the printer pauses. Make sure to orient all magnets the same way with regards to positive/negative poles. I found its easier to put the magnets in when having a bunch of them in a single stack. Put one magnet in, slide the stack to the side so it detaches and repeat for the other holes.
