Description
Open up your suffocating pc case with this mesh-frame insert.
My case was getting too hot when summer temps hit 93+F (34C) so i decided to do my first case mod on a new case, since the intake ports on the front face were anemic I cut a big trapezoid and needed a frame that would hold a mesh in place to keep the interior away from most dust and cat hair.
I ended up sliding some pantyhose over it and clicking it into the void I'd cut.
dimensions:
the full piece is meant to be 205mm along it's longest axis.
the two parts, for smaller machines are:
102mm side to side for the top section
113mm side to side for the bottom
i printed and used the bisected one because i wanted to check the tolerances on the joiner pieces. A little sanding of the insert on the centre may be needed depending on your material squish factor. Use some kind of adhesive
I used Protopasta's CF PLA for mine; can't imagine you having too much issue with any other material.
Printer Brand:

Maybe sand a little bit to ensure tight fit for the 2-piece version.
I started with the largest hole i was willing to cut into my case front and sized the mesh frame from there. I added cross-bracing for strength to help keep it from folding over during install.
