Description

EDIT: 3-12-2018 I've added a full sized version because i just realized i can save a file after resizing in cura. This new version requires less support because I've changed it's orientation. For the actual size read the paragraph just below this one but switch the Y and Z parameters in your head.

My mom made a passing comment about getting water on her counter when she went to use the soap bottles, so this soap bottle drain came to mind. I designed it to be used with two 7cm wide circular shaped bottles with personally desired dimensions of 150mm X, 91.5mm Y, 33.2mm Z.

IF YOU DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE "LESS SUPPORT" VERSION you will have to resize it, as it loads into the slicer 750% smaller than my mentioned dimensions.

I've made hollows on the bottom four corners where you can glue in some rubber/silicone feet depending on the type of filament you decide to use.

I'd suggest you coat the entire thing in some kind of hydrophobic layer.

You could also add silicone/rubber/high friction strips to the top of the bottle risers if you want. Again depending on print material and alla that.

EDIT: noticed a small size anomaly, fixed.

Print Settings

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

.2

Infill:

7%

Notes:

Cura sliced it up nicely and all the layers look well connected. That said, If there is a problem with the model, not your print settings, let me know.

Post-Printing

As mentioned earlier I'd strongly recommend coating this in some kind of sealer since it is intended to be around water.

How I Designed This

  1. Started with a squished cylinder and stretched along the x axis.
  2. inset that face and extruded the border.
  3. rotated the cylinder 15 degrees.
  4. Starting from a cube i made the bottle risers and set them on top of the cylinder till they just barely sunk into the cylinders face.
  5. extruded the drain spout from the cylinder and adjusted everything accordingly.
  6. using another cube i made the bottom risers loosely based on vaulted ceiling columns.
