Description
-New center fin update-
I printed the center fin on its side with tree supports and raft for better layer adhesion and to avoid warping. Printed it with a 0.12mm layer height which I recommend as it increases layers and makes a much smoother surface layer. You can try to print the center fin vertically although thin sections of the fins may not come out great and due to the higher amount of layer lines strength may be compromised.
I got an old BIC sport surfboard that came without fins and found out they used and unusual fin system and after doing a bunch of searching of found out they used an old kind of fin system which was apparently not being produced anymore and I could only find 3rd manufacturers selling the fins at a very high price so I decided to model it myself.
Note I am just a beginner surfer and this board is my first board since I got it for almost nothing so I am not to knowledgeable on how fins should be design or on hydrodynamics.
I just easily model a fin design based of some designs I found off the web.
I have also added a model of the mounting system for anyone who would like to model their own fin designs.
I just used a 20mm long screw to hold the fins place. I also use a printed washer so the screw doesn't scratch the board. The hold is not threaded and I have used a screw the grab in as much as possible into the fin as there is only one mounting screw. The hole size of in the fin is 3.2mm in width.
I will update the details when I have tested the fin and I am still currently working a fin for the center mount.

Material- PLA, not the strongest material but I don't like using harmful petroleum based plastics for something that could break and pollute into the ocean.

Side fins- 50%
center fin- 25%
Infill pattern- Gyroid
Bed adhesion- Not required(depending on your printer/bed) but I find a Brim to help with warping.
