LATEST UPDATES:
- I added a version than can hold 3 magnets (use this if you can only source magnets weaker than 50N)
- I moved the magnets 0.2mm deeper, such that the plastic layers covering them will print nicer
Because when using my previous model (https://www.printables.com/model/229334-magnetic-holder-for-pcacrylic-panels) my magnets kept popping out of their adapter sockets, I decided to improve them.
Now the magnet holders
- are rounder (the prints look nicer if your printer has PA / IS artefacts)
- have 2 holes for recovering the magnets
- the magnets are embedded (a 0.2mm layer covers them and prevents them from popping out)
- the 1mm foam tape is not needed anymore
Just in my original design, this assumes 4mm thick panels. Here are the other parts I use for each of the magnetic holder (multiply by the amount of holders):
I added also my PrusaSlicer/SuperSlicer project where I paused the print just before the last layer to be able to add the magnets into each holder. Make sure:
- you distribute the holders far eanough from each other such that the magnets do not attract each other when placing them in the slots
- (optional) you add a drop of glue on each magnet to help holding it in place
- on my setup (RatRig VCore3) I added a PAUSE in between the layers to make the printer stop and wait for me to place the magnets. On your printer this macro must be replaced to whatever is understood by your printer Klipper/Marlin/etc. flavor.
