Netatmo Thermostat - Danfoss RA-N Adapter

Description

The original Danfoss RA-N Adapter which come in the box which each Smart Netatmo Radiator Thermostat is complete crap. It does not fit properly, does not keep the thermostat in place reliably and the thread keeps failing. This can result in all kind of issues, especially battery draining if the thermostat is no longer pushing on the valve pin straightly. 

Improvements

I came up with this alternative adapter design which allows mounting of Netatmo Thermostates to Danfoss RA-N valves. It comes with several improvements compared to the original:

- Beautifull screw-less design makes this look much better.
- Much tighter fit on the valve, this sits on Danfoss RA-N valves without any play whatsoever.
- Better thread for thermostat side, this was improved step by step, to make it sit as tightly as possible. This is no standard 32x1.5mm thread.
- Very quick and easy tool-less mounting, all you need are the 3D printed parts.
- Fully 3D printable with no further parts required, therefore cheap to replace if broken.
- Improved anti-rotation so that the thermostat can be controlled manually without turning it.
- Open design, inner parts could be adjustef for other valve types.

Instructions

• Print the shell one time, the shell is always the same, independant of the valve.
• Print the two inner adapter pieces for the valve you need, slect below.
• I printed them in PETG.
• Print with 8 perimeters (only perimeters, no infill).
• 0.2mm Layer Height recommended.
• On the valve, first fit the two inner parts, then screw on the Shell Part, after that mount the thermostat.
• Re-Calibrate your thermostat after mounting.

Adapters

1. Danfoss RA-N - Rigis Adapter

This adapter is used for this valve Danfoss Rigis Ventiloberteil 8/10 Hand, Art.Nr. : 013G3076.

2. Danfoss RA-N Adapter

This adapter is used for the standard Danfoss RA-N valve.

3. Danfoss RA-N Adapter (4 Hooks)

This adapter is used for the standard Danfoss RA-N valve which only has 4 spoots for hooks against rotation.

Updates

1. Added “Outer Shell - Loose Fit”. This outer shell allows a bit more tolerance on the thread which connects to the thermostat. If the standard version is to tight for you, then try this.
