AnkerMake M5 5015 Fan Duct and Extruder Case

This fan duct is designed for the AnkerMake M5. It uses a 24v 5015 blower fan and is attached to the front of the extruder using existing screw holes. Supports will be needed for this print. This fan duct is not compatible with the M5's extruder casing and it will need to be removed.

This fan duct with a 24v 5015 blower fan reduces fan noise from the AnkerMake M5. During testing using multiple overhang test models similar to slightly better results have been observed using this fan duct over the stock cooling system.

The goal of this fan duct was targeted at reducing fan noise from the M5 with similar printing results. It has been a nice bonus that it performs slightly better.

Besides the printed fan duct you will need:

• (1) - 24v 5015 blower fan
• (2) - m3x12 screws to attach duct to the extruder
• (2) - m3x20 screws and nuts to attach the fan to the duct.

When installing the 24v 5015 blower fan use the right side extruder fan plug that was left open after removing the stock fans.

Update 01/08/22: A second model of the current fan design has been uploaded with slightly longer holes for screw adjustment when mounting the fan duct. The model was edited and sent to me by “just-trey” from the AnkerMake M5 community who ran into an issue where he needed more adjustment space. On another note, I have printed the fan duct in resin and can confirm it prints well in resin on SLA printers.

Update 01/04/22: I have added a model file that serves a replacement for the extruder casing that's compatible with the fan duct. The casing is not required for functionality and is purely for aesthetics. The casing is attached to the back of the extruder using the same 2 existing screw holes that the stock case used. You can reuse the screws from the stock case, no additional hardware is necessary. The stock casing lid fits on top of the new casing.
