Description
I bought a KeySmart key organizer, but the key I use most often was difficult to pull out with one hand due to its smooth profile. So, I designed a small wheel that hugs the top of the key and can be turned with my thumb.
This model is only going to work if you have the exact same key, so I'm posting it more for conceptual purposes. The wheel sits on the side of the key and has a small bumper that hugs the top of the key. Since the bumper follows the contour, turning the wheel will also turn the key.
I experimented with a few different shapes before landing on an etched wheel, which gives decent grip without protruding too much from the KeySmart.
I considered doing the same thing for other keys, but that would make it harder to tell which one is which. With just one thumb wheel, I can find my main key purely by touch.
The thumb wheel was printed in PETG, with 0.1mm layers, and 100% infill.
