Prusa Roller Filament holder with 608 bearings

The Prusa Roller is the name of a new filament unwinding tool which fits all common filament rolls. It has been designed so that the extruder has to overcome as little rolling resistance as possible. My motivation for designing the Prusa Roller was that my Prusa i3 Mk3s stands in an enclosure and changing filament using the original spool holder was very uncomfortable. With the Prusa Roller, the filament can now stand outside the housing and is only fed through from above. Another reason why I am not a fan of the original holder is that the heavy load of the spool always weighed down the whole printer.

The whole Prusa Roller is easy to print and does not need any supports. Please print the rollers vertically as shown in the picture with the 2 grooves facing down.

To assemble the Prusa Roller you need the 2 rollers, the base plate and 4 more 608  ball bearings. I used cheap 608 ZZ bearings but other 608 should also fit.

Der Prusa Roller das ist der Name eines neuen Filamentabrollers passend für alle herkömmlichen Filamentrollen. Konstruiert wurde er so, dass der Extruder so wenig Rollwiederstand wie nur möglich überwinden muss. Meine Motivation zur Konstruktion des Prusa Rollers war, dass mein Prusa i3 Mk3s in einem Gehäuse steht und der Filamentwechsel über den Original Spulenhalter nur sehr umständlich war. Mit dem Prusa Roller kann das Filament jetzt außerhalb des Gehäuses stehen und wird nur mehr von oben durchgeführt. Ein weiterer Grund warum ich kein Fan von der originalen Halterung bin, ist dass die  schwere Last der Spule immer den ganzen Drucker belastete.

Der gesamte Prusa Roller ist einfach zu drucken und benötigt keine Stützen. Die Rollen Bitte wie auf dem Bild ersichtlich mit den 2 Rillen nach unten Hochkant drucken.

Für den Zusammenbau des Prusa Rollers werden die 2 Rollen, die Grundplatte sowie noch 4 weitere Rillenkugellager 608 benötigt. Ich habe günstige  608 ZZ Lager verwendete andere 608 sollten aber auch passen.
