Description

This is a stiffening bracket for the IKEA RIGGA clothing rack. The joint where the vertical posts meet the horizontal cross bar is not the most rigid. Over time, my rack has developed a lean to one side. I decided to create a stiffener for these joints that could easily clamp on to eliminate the lean. Because I use this rack for my cycling clothing, I decided to add a lip to the end that allows me to hang my bike helmet or whatever else makes sense to hang there.

The design could likely be optimized to save some material and/or print time, but I opted to err on the conservative side to ensure rigidity. I only really intended to print these stiffeners once, and the amount of print time saved would likely be negated by the time spent optimizing the design.

Hardware Required:

M4 Nylon Insert Lock Nut - Quantity (16)
M4 x 20 MM Long Socket Head Cap Screw - Quantity (16)

Printing Information:

Filament -  PETG - I used Inland PETG in white to match the color of the rack
Layer Height - 0.2 MM
Perimeters - 4
Top/Bottom Layers - 4
Infill - 15% Gyroid
Supports - None
Print Time - 11h 33mm per set, (2) sets required

I only used 0.2 MM layer height to make it smoother because of both the internal and external curvature. You could use 0.3 MM and save print time if aesthetics aren't as important to you.

The FreeCAD file has been uploaded if you wish to modify the design yourself. Remixing is encouraged!
