Description
After printing 2 unicorns I remade the base (shield) in Fusion 360 to make it easier to glue the head in the right position. The new shield has a recessed head outline at the front, so they unicorn head aligns perfectly. The shield is a bit larger than the original, it has a new beveled edge at the front and a proper keyhole slot at the back, so it can be mounted on the wall of kids' playrooms more securely. The 3MF file also contains the new shield without the outline, so you can use it to glue any other model to it..
I scaled the original low poly unicorn head to 150 percent and the shield has been scaled to 165 percent. I've included the 3MF file with all the parts, so you can play around with slicer settings if you want. I've also uploaded ready to print .gcode files of the shield, head and horn for Prusa MK3S+ printers. I've added some support to the chin area of the head, the result is nicer and the supports are easy to remove. Total print time for the head, shield and horn is about 11 hours in 3 different prints. For me this was the best choice between size and print time.
I'm currently learning Fusion 360 and I had to mess around with the mesh functions to create the new shield. I hope this is useful to someone and any feedback is appreciated!
Pics of the final product are coming as soon as they've finished printing ;-)
