This was a fun make, entirely designed as a labor of love in Tinkercad. Enjoy~

My inspiration comes form the variety of demos left out in the counter of auto shops nationwide.  Ever play with those spinning gears from Lucas that show you the viscosity of their oil additives?  Maybe you've grabbed at the tie rod ends left out to show the rigidity of a variety of brands?  I felt this low poly design would fit right in!

A twin-tank air compressor acts as a the card cradle, with a gear behind.  Some TPU filament was used to mimic an air hose, and a little air impact completes the package.  

I made two designs, which give you a vertical or horizontal orientation option.  Sorry the picture is potato quality; it looks rougher in real life! Vertical orientation pictured.

Some design considerations:

  • This was put together sloppily, and as a result, has several areas where support material cannot be removed easily.  This will be fixed in v2.
  • The alignment of the air regulator assembly places it out of view in several angles.  Resizing after the air compressor was made exasperated this issue.

Printer Settings:

  • The geometry is very simple, and the part can be printed in PLA.  No special consideration for print speed/quality/etc. I used 10% Lightning infill for prototyping, but would have wanted 20% gyroid infill for rigidity.  
  • Print supports in tree mode for more easy removal, and somehow faster printing.
  • Unlike the clerks who roll their eyes when you tell them you're gonna replace your water pump in their parking lot in under an hour, I believe in you!

Post-Printing:

  • The hole used for the air hose is 2mm in size, allowing you to plug in some flex filament with a little wiggle room.  Maybe some Permatex would keep it secure? 
  • Another option for air hose is to use PLA, made soft by placing a length in warm water, then placing in the microwave for 30 second intervals, until adequately ductile.

This is my first contest entry, and I'm very open to feedback.  I'm out on a business trip, but v2 will come out when I get back!
