I was tired of my Mi Band 4 constantly unlocking and falling down at random - the original strap is just @#$% - so I got a crazy idea - lets put it on a paracord bracelet!
It looks more bulky than the regular “sport smartband” on silicon strap, but I think it has it's appeal.
How to:
- Print the holder - 0.2mm layer, 4 perimeter, high infill
- Remove Mi Band4 from silicon strap, gently open the mount and place the device inside
- Find some paracord buckles (I printed those fancy buckles)
- Get some paracord - can't help with choosing length, I can only say that I used a bit too much and had to cut the excess - there are some guides on the internet that can help with that.
- Wire paracord on the first buckle. Once done, push both strands through the mi band mount
- Wire the second part of the buckle - this is the moment to adjust the length of the bracelet
- Start wiring the loops. Once you get to the mi band, just push the strands through the mount again - try to have the strands on the outside now
- keep wiring the loops behind the mi band. Compress them to make it really tight.
- Once you get to the other end, cut the excess cord and melt the ends with lighter (careful, dont burn yourself)
If the paracord dont want to go through the plastic loops in my mount - try melting the tip a bit with fire and forming a thin tip. Use pliers to pull it on the other side.
I followed this tutorial when wiring the paracord.
I have no idea if “wiring” is the proper term here, probly not.
The mi band device stays in place and dont fall out. If you need to take it out for charging, then gently open/spread the mount again.
