Description
The last Filament spool holder/roller you'll need. I couldn't find a model I liked this side of a paywall so I went fumbling around with modeling software and this came out the other side. It holds the 250g and 1kg spools I have perfectly with room for wider and narrower spools still. I'm new to printing and parametric modeling software so this is definitely a rookie product. It does work exactly like I wanted it to and I'm hopeful it will for you too.
The main body has a recess on both ends to fit a 608 skate bearing. I had to oversize the extrusions after a test print to 22.3mm to fit the bearing. Everyone's mileage may vary. The main body, slider and nut are all that's required for all printer types. The anchor and anchor washer are specific for Creality side slinger spool holder. Other style printer mounts may require their own solutions. The nut and main body threads were just made using a helix tool and not a proper thread designer so hopefully no issues arise for you.
I printed with 0.1mm layer heights, slower travel speeds and 60% infill to get best possible finish and decent strength. May have been overkill but it worked. Almost all other settings were as the slicer suggested.
Non printed materials are: 2X 608 Bearings, 1X 5/16" (8mm works as well) by 5.5" bolt or preferably threaded rod cut to length (specific to Creality mount like mine) and some washers. I did cut some instrument tubing for a spacer between the bearings because as I tightened the nut it started side loading the bearings and made drag. That might be a thing one wants to have so it’s listed as optional, it was 3.2" long. The inner bore has shoulders for the bearings outer race to register against.
Hope to see many versions of this with many mounting options,
Cheers
