Description
A fun little coin trap with an interesting geometric design on the outside and a perfect sphere on the inside. The internal sphere itself is large enough to accommodate a coin up to 35 mm in diameter. But the outer shapes will only allow coins under 22 mm to escape, making it a perfect little prison for a US quarter or various Euro coins (as well as other larger coins).
On my Prusa Mini this printed well without requiring any supports, as the internal spherical shape allowed the bridges to form cleanly without issue. I printed with a .2 layer height with an infill of 50% (just to make it a little heavier), and I enabled the brim option just to make sure it wouldn't slip around on the print bed (but the brim likely isn't necessary.) I'd certainly recommend you slice it on your own, but I've attached the gcode I used for my Prusa Mini for those that just want download & print.
You'll want to drop the coin in about half way through the print by simply pausing the print, or just throw it in while the printer is in action for an extra challenge. The quicker you can drop it in the better, as you don't want to let the plastic cool down too much in order to ensure good layer adhesion.
Enjoy!
