Eibos Series X: Easdry Filament Dryer Mount for Ender 3

When I saw the original Fokoos version of this mount design I thought it was awesome and absolutely had to remix it for Ender 3.

In this remix I’ve trimmed the fat for a faster print using less filament, re-oriented the overhang to the rear to suit the traditional Ender 3 rear-left filament feeding position, and added support-free recesses to accomodate the Easdry’s rubber feet preventing the dryer from being able to slide forward off the mount.

I’m so stoked with how this remix turned out and how easy it was to print. I’ve been feeding filament directly from my top-mounted Eibos dryer during every print over the last fortnight and it’s been flawless. Print quality has significantly improved, predominantly in terms of stringing. I live in Queensland, Australia where the air is like a tepid swimming pool in summer so over-hydrated filament always a never-ending issue. Being able to print directly from the filament dryer, while saving bench space, has all but eliminated the stringing and filament breakage I’ve been battling for the last 2 years printing in this climate.

• Installation is super easy - just remove the 2 screws at one corner of the top of the frame, slide the left and right mount pieces on with the t-nut screws facing the rear, position the mounts where you want them, making sure the distance between them gives a snug fit for the base of the dryer, then tighten the t-nut screws and replace the 2 frame screws.
• Filament hole plugs also included so you can restrict unnecessary external airflow from the two unused filament holes while drying and printing.
• Cable Management: I recommend J-Max’s cool little 2020 clip-in cable guide to cable manage the Eibos’s IEC cable. Print it on its end, any height (length) you need. You can see the guide at work in my setup in the included photos. With dual-z I have my guide clipped to a right-side Z stabiliser mount, but if you don’t have a dual-z setup it’ll work beautifully just clipped to the rear of the top frame. PS: I wondered how the mount would go when I installed my TwoTrees Dual Z-motor lead screws with sync belt but there was no conflict at all. The mount and the new dual Z setup play very well together. The sync belt runs cleanly in clear space at the top rear of the frame without the mount encroaching or inhibiting it.

PPS: If, like me, you’re running a dual z setup along with this mount and want to use z-knobs on the top of both lead screws, I resized my go-to z-knobs to accomodate the extra footprint of this mount. Uses approx 186g / 62.39m of filament, @ 0.2mm layer height and 20% infill with brim and tree supports ‘Everywhere’ (see attached slicer reference pics).
