Bearing Filament Guide with BTT Smart Sensor Mount for Ender 3

Remix of my remix ‘Filament Guide Pulley for Ender 3 with Dual-Drive Extruder Upgrade’ to include a mount for the BTT Smart Filament Sensor and a more sophisticated method of attachment.

My goal with this remix, aside from adding the sensor bracket, was to mitigate any interference with the lead screw nut fixings, allowing them to be left a little loose if necessary to accomodate lead screw play, and to make it possible to attach or remove the mount without having to disassemble the lead screw.

This mount has a much simpler and more stable attachment method than its predecessor. I’ve added a little slot underneath the mount on the right side which slides over the corner of the extruder motor mounting bracket preventing any instability while avoiding the lead screw fixings entirely. The whole thing then simply fastens in place through one hole + hex recess using the exisiting gantry bracket bolt and nut.

Another goal with this mount was to make it as easy as possible to print and to make installation simple.

The orientation of the bearing stand has been reversed and gradients eliminated to allow a super clean print with no supports. Installing the BTT sensor is also pretty simple, just unscrew the 6 little screws on the sensor, remove the back panel and screw the sensor onto the mount using the same screws through the corresponding holes underneath the mount. Slip the printed pulley over the bearing, slip the bearing onto its stand, slide the mount slot over the edge of the extruder motor platform and fix in place using the existing gantry bolt and nut through the hole in the front edge of the mount.

Note: This mount is designed to work with the dual drive extruder upgrade for Ender 3 (as pictured in the included images) it won’t work with the stock Ender 3 extruder.

Uses approx 29g / 9.79m with 0.2mm layer height, 20% and no supports
