Smart phone + catch-all tray with house rule sign and charging station for up to 7 smart phones.Â
Â
We follow a simple house rule in our home for smart phones: Visitors and we ourselves too have to place our smart phones next to the entry door, because we don’t want to stare at these devices all day on and on. When we enter the home, we turn them silent and place them on a catch tray with integrated charging station similar like the one here. Next to the tray there is a similar sign like the one to download here too in German and English language.
This leads to one thing: Visitors and we talk with each other… Yes, that is still possible! =)Â
Most visitors that did not know our house rule before, agree to this after some time, while they randomly try to take their phone out of their pocket, where it is not right now… ;-)
Â
Yes, I am aware that I am very very very much into smart home, electronics, use automations all around with several smart mirrors and have really many (self build) electronic devices all around in every section of my home, but I don’t want to look at my smart phone on and on all day…
Â
Try it yourself! You will not believe how good this feels after some time… =)

Functions:
- The sign can be placed on a desk/shelf with the provided stand or directly wall with some double sided tape.
- The base_charger and tray part can be screwed strong on a wall with 6 screws each. A drilling template is included for the base_charger and tray part.
- The base_charger and tray part can be placed on a desk or shelf as well. Â
- The named used charger is relatively big with 100x70x26mm and you should have lots of space in the base_charger part to store it hidden in, even for other chargers.
- The up to 7 phones can be charged via (multi port) USB cables plugged in the charger inside the base_charger part. The base_charger part therefore has 7x 25mm deep slots. The slots have a 15mm width to take even thicker smart phones. An iPhone 14 Pro Max with a protective clear case fits real easy into one of the slots. An iPhone 1 can get lost. ;-)
- Inside the base_charger part you can hide the not needed parts of the cables and wrap them around the posts outside of the charger.Â
- The 3 bigger holes in the base_charger part can be used to route the power cable of the charger and the USB cables through to the outside.
- The USB cables and the charger can be fixed in place with some cable ties inside the base_charger part with the prepared hooks with 5x3mm holes too.Â

Printing instructions:
- No supports or brim needed for all parts.
- 0.3 draft profile used.
- Textured sheet used. If you use a textured sheet too, let it cool down completely after the print and wait for the part gets loose by itself. Do not pull on it to avoid ripping off the letters! In my case it takes 45-60 minutes after the print has ended and the part just lays loose on the print bed…
- Using a brim was not needed in my tests, because I cleaned my textured sheet with dishwashing liquid carefully with a new sponge and then with isopropanol alcohol again on the printer to make the parts stick really good.
- IMPORTANT: Color change in the sign parts from white to red (or whatever color you would like) at 1.4mm height to create the sign contrast color.
Â
Happy printing =)
