Description
This is a practical bird feeder built using a Prusament spool flange and upcycled plastic bottles — Snapple and Ocean Spray both work. The Snapple version threads right in. For Ocean Spray bottles, I added a new adapter printed in PolyFlex TPU95. You’ll need to drill out the original bottle cap and press-fit it into the TPU feeder cap. This one isn’t threaded, but it grips tight.
I print the structural parts in ASA and the flexible adapter in TPU. Print settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layer height, no support.
To keep squirrels from chewing through or instantly emptying the feeder, I wrap it in chicken wire. Not pretty, but very effective.
If you’ve got empty bottles and old spool flanges lying around, this is a solid reuse project that brings more birds to your yard and keeps more plastic out of the trash.
