Description

This is not a joke! Where my family is from, for some reason we always have shrimp for every major celebration/get together/holiday/birthday. EVERY SINGLE TIME! But I like shrimp so I don't mind. I didn't start this til 3 hours before the competition so it's printing as of 6:49PM EST 1/22/2023. It's just three parts: Shrimp Body, Hat, and Stand. The legs are made with spare filament. An example will be posted shortly. I know this is goofy but I thought this would be a fun way to share one of my family's celebration traditions.

Printing

0.20mm for everything.

The hat can have as many or as little color changes as you want. Have fun!

Assembly

This part will either be really easy or really annoying. If you have something that can easy cut filament this should be fine, but all I had was some blue pliers and the sharp part of a wire stripper.

If you are not familiar with shrimp I have attached a reference image for reference courtesy of NOAA Fisheries:

IMPORTANT: the tail is very fragile (the orange one's tail snapped off). I have included a reinforced tail version for the body incase you want to use that instead.

You will just need a small piece of black filament for the eyes, and a meter or two of another color (preferably matching the body) for the 10 PAIRS of legs and 10 PAIRS of swimmers. I don't actually know shrimp anatomy but this is what I picked up on from brief research.

Simply put, a piece of filament goes into each 2mm hole. I did NOT measure any filament pieces and instead eyeballed everything. If something is too loose, just crimp a “side” of the filament and it will have more resistance due to the increased “diameter” in that area.

For the hat, cut off the thin wall of the base and remove the supports, and attach with a small piece of filament to the head.

For the base, be careful not to snap off the attachment piece, but if you're using the glass, try to use the legs to hold the shrimp to the glass.

Honesty

You saw the time and thought this would be quick??

😂 This took me an extra hour because of the 20 legs and swimmers

In the comments, let me know your favorite way to eat shrimp. My mom makes a really good spicy seafood curry with shrimp and salmon/swordfish.
