Raspberry Pi Media Streamer

I wanted an all in one solution for remotely playing my Plex FLAC audio collection at a reasonably high quality which didn't need me to use my computer or phone. I had a spare LCD touch screen and DAC+ hat around so decided to build and enclosure to hold it all.

A rotary encoder was added to allow controlling track skipping and scrubbing. For full details, software components and a BOM please visit my GitHub for the project here:

Of course many people might not have identical components so you can access the original Onshape model to make modifications here:

The DAC+ hat provides a dedicated headphone amplifier so can drive reasonably demanding headphones but if you have some really extravagant cans then of course you can hook up a USB DAC. I'm currently running with a FiiO K7 and Head(amame) headphones.

PLA is fine but PETG, ABS or ASA should all also work well. Tolerances need to be reasonably tight for the panel covers which slot into a quite narrow slot. You can print without support if your bridging is dialed in but you might get a better surface on the underside of the slot for the encoder if you use support in that area.

UPDATE (Raspberry Pi 5 Versioin)

Files for use with the Raspberry Pi 5 are now included. See extra notes in the GitHub repository for considerations when using the Raspberry Pi 5. Note that the display is rotated 180 degrees for use with the Raspberry Pi 5 due to the change in the display flat flex cable which required several other changes. The Raspberry Pi 5 version also includes a whole for a power button and does not use the separate DAC hat. The Onshape model for the Raspberry Pi 5 version is in a separate branch on Onshape, the link is below.
