Description

I created this tray set for the printables catch-all contest (01/2023).

The goal was to get away from the usual box shape and right angles and offer a nice place for your belongings. These trays resemble presenting plates in irregular stone-like shapes and smooth curve transitions everywhere. As I dislike the sound of plastic when objects are placed inside the trays, I added recesses that allow for 3mm thick felt inserts. These sit flush with the surrounding surfaces which looks and feels very elegant. To ensure a perfect fit, see the PDF below with cutting templates and instructions.

If you don't have felt or something similar in 3mm thickness, print the insert in a different color or material (e.g. TPU)

You can also print the trays without recesses and use them that way.

There are 3 different sizes:

  • S - should fit every printer
  • M - fits on a 180 x 180 mm printbed (printable on Prusa Mini+)
  • L - fits on a 250 x 250mm printbed

Considering the size, not very much filament is being used.

I used AddNorth Marble PLA filament, 0.2mm layer height and printed them on my Bambu Lab P1P. Use brim, as they tend to warp! I had a failed 6h print - M-Size - on my Prusa Mini because of that.
