Description

Here is what you need for this project. Buy any of these light fixtures with the 120mm Rings. I bought these two one for my bathroom one for my workshop.

There is more styles of fixtures at the vendor. (BISAMIYA)

Buy a Hardened Nozzle of some sort. This is what I used.

Buy some Glow in the Dark PLA. This is what I used.

Buy these LED bulbs or anything with a Kelvin of 5000k to 6000k. The full spectrum light will charge the phosphorescent stronger and last longer. They won't create heat, and won't melt or warp the PLA. This is what I used. You can use any light you like but the 5k+ Kelvin will work better for the glow.

LEDS are very power efficient! So you can charge the Glow PLA with light cheaply.

I also used a dimmer (Lutron) from HD to adjust the brightness on the lights, the LEDs can get very bright.

Print out the Light Shade Replacement with your choice of Glow in the Dark PLA. Replace the light shades use the same gold screws. The little gold heads are simple finger screws you can use in the new fixture. I printed with 15% Gyroid infill and placed the seam one side which I positioned at the back when installing. You can try different infills and different colored Glow in the dark PLA. I made the light shade a few MM taller so it's a bit bigger.

The Glow in the Dark PLA makes the new shade look like frosted glass in the light.

I replaced some very basic old UGLY light fixtures in my house. I still can't believe the builders used a Mirrored backdrop light fixture, it looks like it is from the 70s. And the other light fixture is so basic and bland.

When you turn the lights on they look like frosted glass. When you turn the light off they Glow for hours! The Glow will last longer the brighter you have the lights, and the more time you have the lights on for. Different Glow in the Dark PLA will have varying glow amounts.

It also will appear much brighter at night and when your eyes adjust to the darkness approximately 5 minutes of no light exposure for your eyes. Everytime you turn on the light it will charge the Glow in the Dark PLA. The glow will dim quickly but will still appear bright in the dark and at night and when your eyes are dark adjusted.

Changing a light fixture or light switch is very easy. Always use precautionary measures and consult a professional if you don't feel comfortable or safe doing it yourself.
